The Mobile Gaming Summit is one in a series of events organised by Project ImMediaTe to provide tools and services to assist the growth of
digital media SMEs operating in the creative industries sector.

Project ImMediaTe is part of the Europe INNOVA Initiative and is funded under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), which aims to encourage the competitiveness of European enterprises.

The ImMediaTe Consortium is coordinated by Filas, the Financial Development Agency of Lazio, the Region of Rome, in Italy. The consortium also includes representatives of four other important EU clusters in this sector based in Amsterdam (IIP Create), Barcelona (22@Barcelona), Paris (Cap Digital), and Malta (FTZ - Fondazzjoni Temi Zammit). FTZ is also the local organizer of the Mobile Gaming Summit. Other partners include Media Business School (Spain), Media-deals (France), Innova (Italy), Institute of Electronic Business (Germany) and Living Labs Global (Denmark).

The event organizers aim to transform the Mobile Gaming Summit into an annual appointment as a major West-East Digital Marketplace for Gaming.

Malta is a natural Euro-Mediterranean hub and provides the ideal location for this event. Moreover, Malta was the first EU member state to regulate Internet gaming in 2004. Companies operating in Malta service 10% of the world's Internet gaming market.

Mobile gaming has a major impact on the use of digital media and innovation in areas such as mobile payment processing, mobile security and the convergence of media formats. It is transforming the gaming industry from mere entertainment into a fully-fledged global financial industry with new advanced markets, efficient systems for payment processing and innovative cross-media products.
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) posits that the global entertainment and media market will grow by 5% by 2014 to a total value of US$1.7 trillion.

The games market is bookmarked as the second fastest growing segment, right behind on-line advertising, with a growth rate estimated at 10.6% over the next four years. Global revenues are expected to grow from $52.5 billion in 2009 to $86.8 billion in 2014.
